People in Ontario should start at http://www.rainbowhealthontario.ca/service-directory/ If they don’t find someone through there, they should contact Jordan Zaitzow jzaitzow@rainbowhealthontario.ca or (416) 324-4100, x5325 trans health connections coordinator. He has a list of all health and social service providers that RHO has trained to provide trans competent care across the province.
If people wanting to start hormone therapy have a supportive family physician lacking knowledge, have that provider should be in touch with Jordan. There are training certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada as well as a weekly trans mentorship call where trans health experts connect with clinical providers across the province over the lunch hour. If you don’t have a supportive family physician, you will need one to get referred to specialists or to access OHIP covered surgeries. Jordan can help you find one taking on new patients. For those in more rural settings some physicians will provide care via OTN.
Another resource that can be helpful is Rupert Raj’s list http://www.rrconsulting.ca/docs/RRConsulting_ClinicalCommunityResourcesForTrans_2015.pdf
